GS CurveTools and Maya 2025 load times bug!

News / 01 July 2025

📝 An important note about Maya 2025 and GS CurveTools.

As was discovered recently there is a very frustrating bug with Maya 2025 and its scene loading. This bug can lead to excessive load times even on relatively small scenes with 1000 or so cards. Maya can hang on close, scene switch and in general be unresponsive. Duplicate function will also be slower on 2025.
One user was kind enough to test this on his studio and home PCs and confirmed this issue. Those PCs are extremely fast and Maya 2024 had zero issues. I also tested 2026 on my own setup and it was good too even on larger scenes. Same for 2024.

For example for me: 1000 curves in a scene load in 10 seconds on Maya 2024 and the exact same number of curves will load for about 3 minutes in Maya 2025!

âť—So to recap, all 2025 versions (up to the latest 2025.3) have this bug it seems, so there was no fix from Autodesk and will never be as they almost never patch old versions after the new one comes out.

❓What to do:
- If you are stuck with 2025: loading the scene directly from the file is much faster then using File -> Open Scene
- If you can: use 2024 or 2026 as they seem much faster in this regard.

Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do on my end. Only give recommendations. Sorry about that 🙏

GS CurveTools v1.3.7 Update

News / 24 June 2024

Just a minor update to fix an annoying bug and add some performance improvements.

GS CurveTools v1.3.7:

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Drastically improved the performance of graphs (Twist, Width) on large complex scenes.

BUG FIXES:

  • Maya 2022 only: Fixed the visual bug that caused the curve to become visibly smaller when using warp cards/tubes and bind. The bugfix is a workaround, as it is an internal Maya issue with some built-in functions. Due to the workaround, the user will see the intermediate updates of the viewport during the function execution*.
